hi I'm dr. t I'm a
dermatologist in private practice from
the last 15 years and I work in
Bangalore the kovat virus has not only
brought with it a scare and a lot of
whatsapp forwards but also a sense of
responsibility in each one of us that we
should first be responsible for our
safety and the safety of the people
around us and as you can see the world
around the experts are recommending
social distancing and frequent
hand-washing as two of the primary steps
in treating this pandemic so when we
talk about frequent hand-washing and
with or hand sanitizing in the efforts
which we are doing we all have become
very aware of using soap for a minimum
of twenty seconds then washing the soap
off or using the sanitizer after where
the water is and soap is not an option
but this frequent using of soap and
water or sanitizer is actually be
hydrating the skin of the natural oils
that it produces this is actually a big
problem for people who are prone for dry
skin as well as hand eczema's it as it
can considerably worse in their skin
condition so what is it that you can do
to prevent this first use mild soap use
a sin debt a sin date based soap is good
enough and it can be used for 20 seconds
and it will not dry your skin as much as
a more chemical containing so the second
is to moisturize immediately after the
application of the soap and the once the
skin is dry and you have to apply your
thick greasy moisturizer on the affected
area which is your hands similarly even
after using a sanitizers most of these
sanitizers are based on alcohol which
tends to dry out the skin and it can
cause some cracks in your skin so use a
moisturizer frequently and before golden
to bed it may be a good idea to apply
some olive oil on the cuticle so the
nails don't crack so easily and over the
hands then
we're a pair of cotton clouds and go to
bed to protect your skin during this
season my advice to all the patients is
wash your hands frequently stay at home
practice social distancing stay safe
